Community Redemption – Reap the Harvest

Do not reap to the edges…. Leviticus 23:22

Knit in the hearts of all human beings is a desire to give their better than they had.  More love, more security, more significance, and be more of an impact to the world they live in.  Everyone, at some time in their life, needs a little help to get over the hump.

“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.”

Leviticus 23:22

Many people in our cities today can afford to rent but to get over the hump and buy a house seems unattainable.  They are in a struggle for their lives and their children’s.  The bondage of poverty gets a hold on a life and seems almost impossible to break, alone.  Imagine for a moment if there was a way to help a family, single parent, or someone go from being a renter dreaming of owning a house to actually owning a house.  Imagine that you can do this and make money, without hurting or taking advantage of someone.  Is it possible?  Yes, it is possible to do this, make a very good return, and help people in the process.    You can be the one to help people break out of that bondage and move from being a renter to an owner.  Transforming not only their life but the legacy that lives beyond their life.  Over the hump, they can build equity so their life, family, and community all benefit.  Now imagine being able to do all of it.

That is exactly what we are doing, and I want to share it with you.  Over the next few weeks I will be sharing a Community Redemption Model that God has graciously given us:

I will discuss how to invest in people.  Often we think giving aid is helping.  We certainly need to give, but we need to invest, not just give.  You can give a man fish and feed him for a day, or teach a man to fish and feed him for life.

We will discuss some much needed real estate basics.  The nuts and bolts needed to make the engine run smoothly.

The Community Redemption Model overview.  When implemented this model will grow beyond our lifetime and continue to transform our communities around the world.

We will talk about neighborhoods and which houses to choose, and repairing them.  People need and deserve a nice, safe home to live in.  You will see this isn’t about living in a degraded house or neighborhood, this is about transforming a house and a neighborhood.

We will go over renting the house.  Investing in people must be like all investments – wise.  No one wants to throw their investment down the sewer.  It doesn’t matter if the investment is money, time, or labor.

The program to enable to a renter to become a home owner.  This is where you are investing in much more than just the physical need of a safe place to live.  This is where you teach people fish, to help them over the hump.

The greatest celebration you can imagine is hugging a person that has broken a spirit of poverty off of their family and are transformed from a renter into an owner.  It is awesome!!

Finally I will share on the next steps.  How this will spread like wildfire in a hot summer wind.  The results will be communities transformed because the currency of a community is people, and when people prosper then so does the community.

I look forward to your comments and discussion.  Thank you for your time and interest.  I know God is activating your heart to do His will on earth.  God bless you!!!
